NOTE: When you are installing the new cold control in your water fountain, you will notice that the old thermostat sensing wire does not easily pull out of the channel running through the evaporation unit. This is because Elkay (and Halsey Taylor) crimp the end of the wire so that it does not vibrate with the cycling of the compressor. In order to remove the old thermostat, first PUSH the wire down into the channel a couple of inches (you may have to wiggle it around a bit to do so). Once the end of the sensing wire is exposed AT THE BOTTOM of the evaporator, you can unbend it and then it is easily removed by pulling it out the top of the tube. Don't forget to follow this process in reverse when you install the new cold control or everyone will be complaining about the new rattling noise coming from the water fountain!
