Electrostatic Sprayers & Disinfectants FAQ

Electrostatic spraying is typically used for disinfecting/virus prevention of surfaces. These products are for use on surfaces, not human consumption, and help manage cross-contamination and microbial load.
Note: electrostatic spray application of disinfectants is not a substitute for cleaning surfaces but is another productive, time-saving, effective tool employed to attack germs, bacteria, and viruses.

What Does 'Electrostatic' Mean?

Electrostatics- physics that deals with phenomena due to attractions or repulsions of electric charges.

Electrostatic spraying is based on the principle that opposite charges attract and like charges repel.
“E-Sprayers” have developed patented cordless application technology that places a positive charge on the liquid before entering the nozzle. This charged solution binds to negatively charged surfaces (most surfaces are either negative or neutral) providing complete coverage.

How Does Electrostatic Spraying Work?

Inside the sprayer the disinfectant gets pumped through an electrostatic charging ring which then exits through the nozzle. Positively charging the disinfectant solution causes it to attract to surfaces. As a result, the mist coming out of the sprayer has a wrapping/coating effect that is non-corrosive.

So ultimately you can use less chemical and get a better, more thorough coverage than traditional manually applied methods such as spray and wipe or mopping.

Do I need to wipe the area after I use the sprayer?

This depends on the chemical being used. There are many sanitizers and disinfectants that require no rinsing or wiping required after application. Always check with the chemical manufacturer if you are unsure. Always be sure you are using a EPA-Registered cleaning solution.

How long does it take to dry?

There are many variables that can affect drying times including temperature, humidity, particle size, and the chemical used. A 3-in-1 nozzle allows you to select from three different size particles which can help you customize the drying time.
